The Siskiyou County Arts Council Announces Re-Grant Program Awardees
With funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act through the National Endowment for the Arts, and the California Arts Council, the County Arts Council supports Arts Organizations in Siskiyou.
Mt. Shasta, CA – The Siskiyou County Arts Council announces awardees of its regrant program providing operational and programmatic funding to arts and cultural organizations serving communities of color disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
The Black Butte Center for Railroad Culture will receive an operating support relief grant to continue documenting and promoting the culture of those who ride/rode and work/ed on the railroads of North America, particularly marginalized communities such as undocumented individuals.
The Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center and the Siskiyou Arts Museum, working with POPS Performing Arts and Cultural Center, will receive funding to support programs that further racial equity in and through the arts. The Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center will receive funding to support the creation of a web-based video introducing the Center’s programs and opportunities in a multilingual format. The Siskiyou Arts Museum will work with Pop’s Performing Arts and Cultural Center to produce a program featuring jazz music, and its relation to the study of history and the melding of cultures.

The County Arts Council is grateful to have the opportunity to re-grant funding from the CARES Act and will continue to develop funds to support the creative community that makes Siskiyou County such a wonderful place to be” says Patricia Lord, Executive Director of the County Arts Council.
