The Siskiyou County Arts Council invites you to join a free 6-week virtual training series for people who want to help build stronger, more democratic, community-rooted economies in Northern California.
This series is designed especially for people in Siskiyou, Shasta, and Trinity counties who are ready to deepen their understanding, strengthen local relationships, and step into leadership.
When: Tuesdays, May 12–June 16, 6:00–7:30 PM
Where: Online via Zoom
Who: Community members, organizers, workers, and local leaders interested in cooperative economics, democratic ownership, and community-based solutions
Over six sessions, participants will:
- Learn the core ideas and practices of the Solidarity Economy
- Explore real community-rooted models such as worker cooperatives and community land initiatives
- Build skills for organizing across difference, developing local networks, and sustaining collective work over time
- Prepare to play an active leadership role in a future in-person community gathering in Mount Shasta City or Dunsmuir
This will be a participatory training, not just a presentation series. We will learn together, reflect on local conditions, and identify practical next steps for strengthening the region’s social and economic future.
Topics will include:
- Introduction to the Solidarity Economy
- Networks, cooperation, and shared strategy
- Organizing for the long haul
- Constructive critique and collective learning
- Mapping the North State’s local context and opportunities
- Leadership preparation and next steps
We are keeping the group to 20–30 participants to support meaningful discussion and relationship-building.
If you want to connect with others, build practical organizing skills, and help grow a more just and community-rooted economy in the North State, we hope you will join us.
