The Siskiyou County Arts Council Announces Siskiyou X Days

The ten-day all-county event will feature and connect the diverse and unique artistic talent of Siskiyou.

Mt. Shasta, CA – Today the Siskiyou County Arts Council announces the revival of Siskiyou X Days, a ten-day art experience and open studios series. Initiated in fall of 2019, the series was canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic. With funding support from the California Arts Council, the Siskiyou County Arts Council is excited to produce X Days again. This year, the series will run from Friday, October 27th through Sunday, November 5th. Times and series locations and information will vary and will be listed in the official guidebook.

Siskiyou X Days will highlight the vibrancy of arts activities in the county while uplifting historically excluded artists and untapped nodes of soft power. Connecting and supporting artists will lay the foundation to develop stronger economic and cultural opportunities for Siskiyou. X Days is intended to drive arts and culture tourism through communities, particularly to communities off of I-5. “This is an opportunity for everyone to take a trip to see something they could not normally see in a part of Siskiyou they may have never been before,” says Arts Council Executive Director, Patricia Lord. “Art catalyzes connections between individuals, and Siskiyou X Days offers our gifted artists the perfect stage to forge those bonds,” said Co-Curator Trinity Holsworth. The series incorporates all forms of artistic and cultural expression beyond just visual arts, prioritizes little known or off the beaten path sites, and welcomes artists to promote themselves and their work, whether works are for sale or not. Co-curated by Arts Council Program Manager and Artist Trinity Holsworth and well-known Siskiyou Artist Mark Oliver, X Days has the potential to grow into a larger annual event.

“As a longstanding artist in Siskiyou County, this event is a long time in coming! I am hoping it will become a much celebrated event and people will look forward to it every year. There are so many interesting artists here we are just so spread out, this is a way we can finally be connected,” said Co-Curator Mark Oliver.

Though the series includes many of the quality galleries and well-known venues in the area, insider access to normally private studios, specially developed arts-oriented events, and the opportunity to meet some of the artists who call Siskiyou home is the highlight of this series. More information about Siskiyou X Days, including series schedule, official guidebook, and carpooling and route information, can be found at SiskiyouXDays.com.
