FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Siskiyou County Arts Council Announces Youth Summer Camp in Weed
A free, two-week arts summer camp will teach children aged 8-17 visual arts instruction.
Mt. Shasta, CA – The Siskiyou County Arts Council is offering a free two-week, half-day immersive arts camp. With funding support from the Ford Family Foundation, and in-kind support from Great Northern Services and the Siskiyou Community Resource Collaborative, the Arts Council will be able to provide arts instruction in making paper, cyanotype, sculpture, charcoal drawing, block-print making, and more. Then at the culmination of the camp, projects will be displayed for the public to enjoy.
The goals of this camp are to help broaden participants’ exposure to new and challenging art forms/mediums, explore their personal creativity through study/critique of the work of others, and develop collaborative skills. In partnership with local business, IndigoMoon on Main Street, the camp will generate much needed arts activities in downtown Weed.
“I look forward to serving the youth in our community to further their passions through artistic endeavors. This camp will encourage our youth to explore through mixed art mediums and bring a sense of pride by participating in community art projects!” says IndigoMoon proprietor Jenny Florence.
